shift did the trick

Ok, i was sure that one of them would do it. [Image: default_wacko.gif]

Nice to see the map! If we pass the character selection phase the "right" way we will have the beginning of a playable game, it's motivating. Do not hesitate to modify the doc btw. [Image: default_wink.png]

About the GM thing, there is lot of stuff about GM handling but I don't think we should focus on it right now as this is not a core feature at all. ^^

i already put the login enum in the docs, it somehow disappeared.

I'm confused by how the movement works. If i jump, the client sends 2 different movemessages, but nothing if i press AWSD, nor does the character move. I guess it must be unlocked or something first?

Indeed, there are still plenty of things to do. I just want to remind you guys if you can, to keep track of what kind of packets go either via TCP and UDP. The difference can have a huge impact on the FPS aspect of the game.

do you as a player remember, if controlling the character sometimes felt 'laggy' in terms of movement (not skills)? (did you have to wait for the server to confirm the movement)

I never had such laggs.

The time when I played on the US servers from acclaim I had a 150-200 ping.

So the hitbox and the graphic of an enemy had different positions (You can see it in some of my videos)

But my own movement was never delayed.

i am able to explore the map now. It's not elegant (the character is in flying mode, doesn't have animations), but in a sense, i think that's what we wished to be able to do.

But then again, i'm not sure, whether thats everything i wished for, or if i secretly wished to be able to really 'play' that game ( i think that would take some considerable amount of time - is that worth it in terms of how many would come back to this game?).

Though i don't want to be discouraging, it's just a thought i had, while flying around hawksmouth.

stupid post. sorry.

Spellborn never had that big hype community.

But it had and still has always a nice and friendly community of special MMO gamers who love every single aspect of the game: the lore, the world, the battlesystem and so on.

Players who appreciate the uniqueness of this game.

I'm sure nearly all of the old Spellborn veterans would come back and im also sure that there would be some more new people who never had the chance to play it in the past but wish it alot.

And to be honest: It's better to have a closed community of real fans instead of a big bunch of casual guys who jump from game to game.

I will speak for myself, but as I said I am doing this without engaging myself in anything. Everybody's free, if you want to continue the reversing, continue, if you don't want, then stop, nobody would blame you for that (or it would be someone very stupid). That's why I am publishing the doc: I can stop whenever I want, my work won't be lost because other people can continue where I stopped.

I must say that I understand your feeling when you say: "whether thats everything i wished for, or if i secretly wished to be able to really 'play' that game". To be honest I feel a bit the same, that's why I postponed the world login to focus on the character part, because I thought that if we had a working character part, it would encourage us to push the reversing even more than just connect to the map. But as you focused on the world login and so connected to the map, I feel a little bit "empty". I am not blaming you at all (sorry if it sounds like that, as I said my english is not perfect so my speaking is not very subtle), it's normal to be tempted to explore the map, after all that was my first motivation! But then  I saw that having TCoS back was possible, so I had the envy to push things further. The problem for me is that I do not have so much free time this year, so I do not know how much time I will be able to invest in that task.

To conclude, I think that the only thing that matters for now is to share the knowledge. I will put the doc on a real wiki so anyone can edit it in a better way than now (Btw I am sorry if I erased by mistake what you put on the wiki? It would be strange as I checked before but maybe we were editing at the same time).

Nobody owes anything to anyone, but as I started the doc, I hope that everyone working on the reversing will play the game and publish what he/she found.
