How to explore the world of Spellborn
|
Take your time.
There is no need to hurry. I'm thankful about every single thing you've done so far.
I've now added a 32bit version aswell. I tested it on my pc and it seems to work, no guarantees though. https://github.com/ValooFX/TCoSRebornSan.../tag/0.1.1
EDIT: project moved to main repository (https://github.com/TCoS-Rebirth) This post was last modified: 05-08-2018, 01:39 AM by Polymo.
Thank you very much for this work.
I really appreciate it.
if you build the standalone and start it the first time, an xml should be created ('config.xml'). For local play you shouldn't need to tweak anything though. just stop and restart the sandbox and you should be able to connect (after you modified the sbclient.rc from the game client to point to your localhost (127.0.0.1:22233)). But maybe someone else still has the readme, it's a bit more detailed.
"This is the Chronicles of Spellborn Testserver compiled as standalone kind-of-sandbox (it saves players' last position on logout etc).
How to play: 1. Install the Chronicles of Spellborn beta client (v0.9, see spellborn.org for downloads). 2. Open the installed folder go into /etc/client and open 'sb_client.rc' with notepad or a similar text editor. 3. Change the line 'client/net/login_addr = 87.249.97.4:22233' to 'client/net/login_addr = 127.0.0.1:22233' (effectively just replacing the ip with your local/loopback address) You may need to add an exception to your firewall for these ports depending on how it is configured to work. 4. From the sandbox folder either use the supplied batch files to run the server or open it yourself from inside the Files folder. The batch file will spawn an invisble instance, if you run it yourself you'll most likely just see a black window. 5. Give it some time to load. 6. You can now login (using the sb_client.exe from the games' installation folder inside its 'bin/client/' subdirectory): The sandbox has 4 Accounts preinstalled: Explorer, Explorer2, Explorer3, Explorer4 The password for all is "pass" and they are all set to GM-level (allows teleporting etc). The server is experimental, so expect it to crash or to crash the client (the beta client has its own share of bugs). Most features are not available, some haven even been deliberately disabled in the sandbox as they were too buggy to be usable. But that should not keep you from exploring. If you want others to join your exploration (login to your sandbox), you have to modify the Config.xml inside the 'Files' folder (edit 'PublicIp' to your machines/routers public ip). Those who want to join must edit their sb_client.rc file to your public ip and use one of the other free accounts. And just to emphasize, the server is experimental. By running it you agree to not hold us responsible for potential loss of data or anything related if it fails to do its job (the chances of that are pretty much nonexistent though). This project would not have been possible without the following people: Saltiel, Acid-burn, JW-NL, Polymo/Valoofx, In remembrance: Valshaaran/Aslessor, Kevin (maintainer of spellborn.org) And many more users from the spellborn.org forums If you have questions or feel the need to improve the code, visit spellborn.org. Have fun exploring." The text from the readme. This post was last modified: 02-09-2018, 12:37 PM by Czelsior.
I wonder if I could make it work for my dev version
Anyway: "4. From the sandbox folder either use the supplied batch files to run the server or open it yourself from inside the Files folder. The batch file will spawn an invisble instance, if you run it yourself you'll most likely just see a black window." Where is this batch file? I got the files from here: https://github.com/TCoS-Rebirth This post was last modified: 02-09-2018, 08:39 PM by Zer0.BE.
Ex-Spellborn Dev
Which version did you download?
There are a precompiled one-click version and the uncompiled raw files. The readme I posted is for the one-click version. |
