As i can't reply in the news section (intended?): when i access this site like: spellborn.org (instead of www.spellborn.org). The front page (only the front page) has no icons, only the unicode replacement garbage.

That might be because we are being served over SSL, and the icons might not be served over SSL. This will make them hidden in most browsers.
Emoticons are broken now though, I'm aware of this and I'll try to fix that as soon as possible. A screenshot showing what you see might help too

I also noticed BB code was no longuer supported. I had to re-edit my links to the downloads. Emoticons aren't working either

You should now automaticly be transferred to www, so the unicode garbage should no longer occur.
BB code indeed doesn't seem to work anymore, but I still have to wait until the final release to be certain (this is an RC version). Same for emoticons.
