Rebuilding Spellborn
|
I believe that All things are possible. I also believe that a game such as Spellborn Should not be lost forever like a shard floating in the Deadspell storm. This is Why I am going to recreate TCOS. Yes I know it will be difficult, tiring, and a lot of hours at the computer, but in the end It will be worth it. I plan to Start by recreating the terrian using the unreal editor. the thousands of photos and the many videos of spellborn on the internet will be my guide to making the difference between my verison and the original vanish. If anyone is working on a similar project or would like to help please send me a message and we will join forces to restore TCOS.
We must find what is hidden!! Have a question? I'm here to help! Quote:I believe that All things are possible. Eeem, so you're going to fully re-make Spellborn? I think you're better off hacking the client and having that one reversed to a serverside version. But that's just me. If you know how to do such a thing, feel free to send me a pm and I can tell you all I know. And no, we don't have anything in the works ourselves.
I know I am kinda like the naysayer regarding this topic, but I think recreating Spellborn is such a great effort, that it just isn't worth it. It will never come to an working version, in the end.
Remember, that it took a full team of programmers and artists (I don't know how many exactly, around 20?) 4 years to create Spellborn. So Spellborn took something like 80 man years to create (Do you say it like that in English? In Germany, things like this are calculated in "Mannjahren", meaning how long it takes a single person to do it). And we would have to do that all in our free time. Even only recreating the server part is a huge task, as the servers are offline, we can't do any traffic sniffing to get started. If you intend to do such a thing, do it only if you enjoy the process of doing so. Quote:If you intend to do such a thing, do it only if you enjoy the process of doing so. ^ this, we don't have the knowledge to rebuild the server side client, neither do we have the knowledge to modify the client side. So unless, you can do all those things, we're stuck.
Well you could try but I think it be better if we let Frogster a chance to make something out of this game before we start trying the nearly impossible.*

This would take alot of time but I like it!
The Chronicles of Spellborn.. Quote:This would take alot of time but I like it! Building every single thing from scratch, is an impossible job and will take years and years and an awful lot of knowledge of how the game actually looked, because people want it to be perfect then. No matter how hard I want this, it's impossible. The best you can do is make your own MMORPG, themed similar to TCoS. Atleast you have the artistic freedom to create something of your own then. No matter how hard I want this, it's impossible. I agree, I think I will still create my own MMORPG but I will not be an identical replica to TCOS just very similar. However, I Do want the same combat system, if anyone has any Ideas on how to code this please let me know. thanks. P.S. Gravis Werden Is wanted for the Murder of a level 11 Skinshifter Girsol out side of Hawks Wall!!! Have a question? Making an MMORPG is a hell of a job, is very hard, you need to have a lot of funding to make it run and it's impossible to do it on your own. You'd need to be able to run servers and maintain them, scripting the game, coding the engine, writing the dialogues, creating models and meshes. It's nearly impossible. I know that since I once was involved in a project that was about making an MMO. It got blown off after the core engine was nearly finished - it was very hard. |
